L.B. Legends Induction at Smooth’s on Tuesday

University by the Sea – the arts and culture festival that energized Downtown Long Beach last fall – is starting the celebration early this year with the induction of Marcus Eriksen and his junk-raft crew into the Long Beach Legends at Smooth’s Sports Grille on Tuesday.

Starting at 6 p.m. on the roof of the restaurant at 144 Pine Ave., environmental groups like the Long Beach Chapter of Surfrider Foundation and Friends of the L.A. River (FOLAR) will partner with University by the Sea to discuss the L.A. River, Long Beach Breakwater and other water-quality and sustainability issues showcased at this year’s Oct. 5 festival.

All funds generated by the suggested $10 door donation will be split between the two nonprofits.
