Gulf Coast Education Initiative Consortium of Mississippi Selects Classworks As Business Partner

Posted on: Tuesday, 16 September 2008, 15:00 CDT

Curriculum Advantage(TM), Inc. announced today that the Gulf Coast Education Initiative Consortium has selected Classworks as another distinguished business partner recognizing this product as an effective curriculum and remediation tool for Mississippi's elementary, middle and high schools. The Consortium recognizes Classworks' history of raising student test scores in math and reading and its correlation to the state framework and MCT2 objectives as reasons for selecting the system.

Classworks (www.curriculumadvantage.com) gives teachers a single technology-based source for over 10,800 learning activities and lessons that are built from 180 different software products. Classworks is the only curriculum solution of its kind that can import data directly from state-mandated assessment tests and then uses that data to automatically assign individualized learning paths based on student deficiencies. The Mississippi Edition of Classworks is correlated with the Mississippi Framework and the newly released MCT2 objectives.

"Classworks not only brings a variety of teaching resources to the classroom, it also offers differentiated instruction for all learners while addressing reading and mathematics deficiencies," said Dr. Tom Clark, executive director of the Gulf Coast Education Initiative Consortium. "We are pleased to have an agreement with Curriculum Advantage that will bring to the attention of educational leaders the Classworks product that is closely integrated with Mississippi's education goals while making it more accessible for teachers."

"Curriculum Advantage is proud to be a partner with this highly respected consortium and pleased that Classworks will be such an integral part of reaching the state's goal for improved achievement in mathematics and reading," said Mr. Lindsey Cook, president of Curriculum Advantage.

A Mississippi Edition with import features has been created that allows teachers to import MCT2 scores with one simple step and immediately see prescribed, individualized lessons for each student from Classworks' vast library of 10,800 learning activities. After completing the assigned activities, Classworks then tests the students and provides reports to the teacher to evaluate progress and prescribe additional work if necessary.

The Mississippi Edition with import features is important to helping the state reach its goals for adequate yearly progress (AYP). Because Mississippi uses data from the MCT2 combined with achievement goals from the state standards to measure adequate yearly progress, the Mississippi Edition of Classworks allows teachers to spend more time on task and make significant strides to meeting AYP goals.
