Wildfire Chars 50 Acres in Tooele County
A wildfire had burned 50 acres by late Tuesday in Tooele County near Johnson’s Pass and state Route 199.
Tooele County Fire Warden Roice Arnold said the fire started around 5 p.m. Fire crews closed down SR 199 for a while on Tuesday, but it has been reopened. The Clover Creek campgrounds were evacuated around 6:30 p.m., Arnold said.
Arnold said crews expect to contain the fire later today. He said authorities are unsure what started the fire, but they suspect it was human caused because there wasn’t any reports of lightning in the area on Tuesday.
