Museum to Honor Hurricane Casualty

A memorial ceremony Sunday at Jamestown’s Beavertail Lighthouse Museum will honor the last keeper of Whale Rock Light, Walter B. Eberle, who drowned when the light was swept into the sea during the Hurricane of ’38.
About 50 members of Eberle’s family, as well as representatives from the Coast Guard, Department of Environmental Management, and the towns of Jamestown and Narragansett, are expected to attend the 1 p.m. ceremony.
A special Hurricane of ’38 exhibit is also on view at the museum.
