National Public Lands Day is Sept. 27
Volunteers have chance to help care for North Dakota’s public lands by participating in the annual National Public Lands Day Saturday, Sept. 27.
National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands Americans enjoy.
The North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department and other agencies are hosting events as part of the effort.
State park schedules
Beaver Lake State Park; 10 a.m., contact Jim Loren at 701-452- 2752.
Cross Ranch State Park-Park clean-up. Meet at 9 a.m. in the park at the Visitor Center. Contact Eric Lang at 701-794-3731 or email cusp@nd.gox. Refreshments will be provided. Bring gloves and good walking shoes.
Other opportunities
Chain of Lakes Recreation Area: Plant trees, seed grass, and general cleanup. Contact Randy Ellis- rehlis@gp.usbr.gox, Agency: U.S. Bureau of Reclamation 221-1283, Location: 23 miles northeast Wilton.
Kimball Bottoms Recreation Area, registration is at 9 a.m. at the entrance to the off-road vehicle area.
Volunteers should bring a pair of work gloves and dress appropriately for the weather.

Schnell Recreation Area, Dickinson. Maintenance in the campground and day use areas, including planting and watering trees, creating and finishing trail, building benches, erecting directional and educational signs, planting acorn, and building trash can holders.
