Cash for Relocated Residents
TAMPIN: The government has begun paying compensation to residents who were relocated following the construction of the Kelau Dam in Raub, Pahang.
A total of RM39 million has been allocated to 395 land owners owning less than 0.5ha each, Energy, Water and Communications Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said at a buka puasa function at the Maktab Rendah Sains Mara Gemencheh near here.
Shaziman who is also the member of parliament for Tampin, said the Pahang-Selangor Interstate Water Transfer Project (ISRWT) was able to accommodate the water demand in Selangor from 3,887 million litre a day to 4,432 million litre a day in 2014.
He added that the scope of the project encompasses four components, namely the Water Transfer Tunnel, Kelau Dam, Pipeline and Semantan Intake and Pumping Station.
