HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Department of Environmental Protection Acting Secretary John Hanger today named Neil Weaver as the agency’s director of communications and Teresa Candori as its press secretary.
“Pennsylvania’s diverse environmental challenges are leading to new economic opportunities for businesses and communities in every region of the commonwealth,” said Hanger. “It is vital that our agency provide prompt and accurate information to the public on these issues. I am confident that Neil and Tess possess the experience and know-how to meet that goal.”
Weaver assumes the director of communications position after serving as the agency’s press secretary for the past year.
In his new role, he will be responsible for managing the department’s central communications operation and the community relations coordinators in DEP’s six regional offices. He will also oversee the department’s strategic message planning and delivery, marketing efforts, and will coordinate public events for the secretary.
Before arriving at DEP in 2007, Weaver worked in the communications office of the Department of Community and Economic Development.
Candori comes to DEP from Governor Edward G. Rendell’s office of communications, where she served as deputy director. Previously, she directed communication and community relations for the state Senate Democratic caucus.
As DEP’s press secretary, Candori will serve as the department’s primary spokesperson and will direct community and industry outreach.
Both appointments are effective immediately.
