Huell Howser to Host Water Talk Oct. 2 in Fresno

A town hall event hosted by the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) and emceed by Huell Howser will take place October 2 in Fresno to highlight key water issues facing the state and the Central Valley. The free event, set for 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Leon and Pete Peters Educational Center at CSU Fresno, is designed to inform and engage the community on water issues featured in the “California’s Water” series for public television, produced by Howser and underwritten by ACWA members.

The event will explore regional topics as well as statewide water issues, including a deepening drought and court-ordered cuts in water deliveries that are posing severe water challenges for the San Joaquin Valley this year.

 WHAT:   “California’s Water” Town Hall WHEN:   Thursday, Oct. 2, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. WHERE:  Leon and Pete Peters Educational Center, CSU Fresno 5241 N. Maple Avenue, Fresno 

Speakers will include:

— Huell Howser, series host and producer (emcee)

— Mark Grossi, Environmental / Water Reporter, The Fresno Bee

— Timothy Quinn, Executive Director, Association of California Water Agencies

— Chris Campbell, Representative, Fresno Chamber of Commerce

— Dave Zoldoske, Director, California Water Institute, CSU Fresno

The event is sponsored by ACWA, California Latino Water Coalition, California State University Fresno, Friant Water Authority and Kern County Water Agency. Kings River Conservation District also contributed to the event. The “California’s Water” series began airing in April 2006 and examines various aspects of California’s water system.
