Beware of Naked Freedom Fighters

September 26, 2008

So columnist Linley Boniface thinks it’s a grand idea that beach- goers should de-robe for the purposes of freedom and frolicking at their leisure (Opinion, Sept 22).

I wonder if she’d think it were so great were she at the beach in question one day, where her daughter was building a sandcastle, and some naked old crone came up to comment on the great sand- building job she was doing.

Beaches are a public place and I don’t want myself or my family to be confronted by naked freedom fighters. They should do us all a favour and stay covered up.

Where’s my right to go to the beach in peace?

And, did Kapiti Coast district councillors campaign on this issue when they were voted in at last year’s council elections? They have no mandate to push ahead with this.
