Fire in Compost Lasts Eight Hours
More than 3,000 tonnes of compost waste caught fire yesterday inside an industrial building in Ashbourne.
Crews from Ashbourne and Wirksworth were called out to the blaze on Blenheim Road and spent eight hours there.
Firefighters dug out the compost and extinguished it in stages. A Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman was unable to confirm the cause of the fire.
