New Groundwater Treatment Plant Opens
By Robert S. Hong
ALHAMBRA — City officials opened the doors to their new groundwater treatment plant Thursday morning, inviting the public to see where some of their future tap water will be purified.
Fourteen filtration tanks line the inside of the plant, which is tucked at the end of a long driveway on the 500 block of granada Avenue.
The tanks carry out different filtration processes, designed to get rid of nitrates and any “volatile organic chemicals” that may be in the water, officials said.
The plant will treat water from four different wells.
