Quakes Rattle Afghanistan, China

An earthquake, with epicenter in the Hindu Kush, shook central Afghanistan Monday while other quakes rattled China.
There were no reports of casualties or damage from the stricken regions.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the early morning quake in Afghanistan, centered about 40 miles south of Kabul, was of 6.0-magnitude, CNN reported. The Hindu Kush mountainous region is located along the border with Pakistan.
The National Seismological Network in China reported a 6.8 magnitude earthquake shook northwest China Sunday night but no casualties had been reported, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The epicenter was fixed in a mountainous area about 60 miles from Wuqia County in the Kizilsu Kirgiz region. The county, with a population of about 42,000, is in the Pamirs at the conjunction of the Tianshan Mountains and the Kunlun Mountains, the report said.
The earthquake monitoring center in Xinjiang province said there were four after shocks Monday with magnitudes ranging from 3 to 5.7.
