Emergency Declared in Eastern Slovak Town As Chemicals Store Burns

Kosice, East Slovakia, 7 October: A fire broke out in a store of chemicals in Presov, east Slovakia, this morning and an emergency situation was declared in the town.
One firefighter suffered an injury when he inhaled the fumes from the fire.
"An emergency committee is in meeting, it has decided to evacuate people within a 400-metre band," Presov town hall spokesman Michal Kalinak told CTK.
He said thick fumes are rising up from the fire site and that the vicinity is strongly polluted.
The chemicals store is owned by the Presov-based company Fecupral. It is situated in the town's industrial neighbourhood.
