L.B. Leaders Salute Former Mayor
LONG BEACH - Former Mayor Beverly O'Neill will be honored by Leadership Long Beach with the Excellence in Leadership award on Wednesday.
The group also will honor Verizon as the Corporate Leader of the Year, and William "Bill" Barnes with the Lifetime of Public Service Award. Barnes is a community activist and former administrator at Long Beach City College.
The Community Partner Award will go to Seaside Printing owners Mark Cochrane and Joe LaCombe.
Awards will be presented at a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Reef Restaurant, 880 Harbor Scenic Drive in Long Beach.

The lunch is also a fundraiser for the organization that was founded in 1989 by community members striving to educate and motivate leaders on issues important to the future of Long Beach. The group's mission is to "develop and connect principled leaders to strengthen the community."
Leadership Long Beach's 10-month program offers lessons on current issues pertaining to the local economy, government, social services, media and education.
The group aims to provide graduates each year with shared experiences, associations and values.
