Alaskan sausage products are recalled
The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall of approximately 872 pounds of Alaskan-made sausage products due to possible contamination.
The FSIS said the Alaska Sausage Company Inc. of Anchorage, Alaska, said the sausage products might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, posing a public health hazard.
Recalled were 3-pound packages of Alaskan sausage links with reindeer meat, each bearing a package code of
02709 and a sell-by date of
03/22/09 as well as 1- and 3-pound packages of German Brand cooked bratwurst, with the same package code and sell-by date.
The sausage products were distributed to institutions and retail establishments in Alaska.
