Rite Aid, Kmart and Stop and Shop are among the latest of hundreds of U.S. companies announcing the recall of possibly tainted peanut butter products.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration identified the source of the salmonella-contaminated peanut butter, peanut paste and peanuts as a Georgia manufacturing plant operated by the Peanut Corp. of America.
Cookies, pet foods, cereals and ice cream are among the foods being recalled, although major brands of jarred peanut butter are not affected.
