FDA announces more pistachio recalls
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced more pistachio recalls Wednesday due to possible salmonella contamination.
Setton Farms Inc. of Terra Bella, Calif., recently expanded its voluntary recall of pistachios sold in the United States and more than 30 other nations to include all roasted shelled and in-shell pistachios from its entire 2008 crop due to the possible bacterial contamination.
U.S. companies announcing recent pistachio recalls included:
–The Trophy Nut Co.: Trophy Nut-, Patriots Choice-, Nut Barrel- and WaWa-brand in-shell roasted and salted pistachios sold nationwide.
–International Food Source: Valued Naturals-brand in-shell roasted and salted pistachios sold nationwide.
–Instore Distributors Inc: 21st Century Snack Foods-brand salted and no salt pistachios sold nationwide with expiration dates between Aug. 15, 2009 and March 31, 2010.
–John Sanfilippo and Son. Inc; An expanded recall to include Archer Farms-brand roasted salted in-shell pistachios sold nationwide.
–Kanan Enterprises: Kanan-, Holiday Star-, Treasure Trio- and Holiday-brand pistachios sold nationwide.
–Tillamook Country Smoker: Tillamook-brand 1,5oz, plastic packages sold nationwide in retail stores and via the Internet.
–Gurley Foods Inc.: Mountain Country-brand garlic pistachios sold in Colorado, Wyoming, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and New Jersey.
