Yemen Offers Conditional Sale of Gas to South Korea

Sanaa, 6 July: The sales of the Yemeni natural gas to South Korea was conditionally agreed by the parliament on Wednesday [6 July].

The decision, voted through by a majority, authorizes the government to sign the sales of natural gas to Korea Corporation of Gas (KOGAS) on conditions stipulated by business tycoon Muhammad Abdu Sayeed Anam.

Among the list of conditions, the government is obliged to bring a treatise of precise figures confirming that the gas reserves are sufficient for local use and export and another estimation of Yemen’s gas needs and the projected revenues of the sales.

The lawmakers said the conditions reconcile the pressures of the development of oil commission to shelve the sales until further estimations of gas reserves and the government pressures for unfettered sales.
