Dubai’s Gold Imports Estimated

According to Al-Bayan newspaper (July 7, 2005), the World Gold Council reported that Dubai had imported 212 tons of gold, valued Dh 5.8 billion, in 2003. Russia, Saudi Arabia and the UK controlled 54% of these gold imports. In addition, the Dubai had imported 17 tons of scrap gold, valued Dh 585 million, in the same year. Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and India controlled 72% of Dubai’s scrap gold imports.
