Some Nirav-brand golden raisins recalled

June 11, 2009

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the multistate recall of Nirav-brand golden raisins because they might contain undeclared sulfites.

The FDA said Indian Groceries & Spices Inc. of Skokie, Ill., initiated the recall because the sulfites pose a health hazard for people allergic to the ingredient.

The Nirav Golden Raisins were sold Jan. 6-June 10 in 7-ounce and 14-ounce plastic bags by retail stores in Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Tennessee.

Consumers with questions can contact the company at 1-847-674-2480.
