Frozen meat and poultry recalled
The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service says about 209,000 pounds of frozen meat and poultry are being recalled because of an unapproved ingredient.
The FSIS said Buffalo SAV Inc. of Buffalo, N.Y., initiated the recall because the products contain Amaranth Red No. 2, which cannot be used in products sold in the United States.
The recalled products — various weights of Grandma’s, Siberian, and Monastery-brand perogies and turkey, pelmeni, pork, veal, chicken and beef dumplings — were produced June 1-5 and sent to distributors and retail establishments in California, Illinois, New York and Pennsylvania.
