Death toll rises to 41 in NW China coal mine accident
URUMQI, July 11 (Xinhua) — By 18:30 Monday, 41 miners were confirmed dead and 42 others remained missing in a coal mine gas blast taking place in the wee hours of Monday in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
By press time, four of the trapped miners survived from the explosion which happened around 2:30 a.m. in Shenlong Coal Mine of Fukang County when 87 miners were working beneath the shaft, said Wang Yongzhu, deputy-director of the Xinjiang Coal Mine Safety Supervision Administration.
