Canada warns of onion sprout contamination

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning consumers not to eat certain varieties of Sprouts Alive-brand and Sun Sprout-brand onion and onion mixed sprouts.
Sunsprout Natural Foods of Brantford, Ontario, said some varieties of the onion sprouts might be contaminated with salmonella bacteria. All Best Before
codes up to and including August 27, 2009
of Sprouts Alive baby onion sprouts and Sun Sprout mixed alfalfa and onion sprouts are affected.
The products were distributed in Ontario and the maritime provinces, and might have also been sold in Quebec.
The company is voluntarily recalling the products from the marketplace.
