NASA lists Discovery pre-launch events

August 20, 2009

NASA says it will provide continuous updates as U.S. space shuttle Discovery lifts off early Tuesday bound for the International Space Station.

Liftoff will be at 1:36 a.m. EDT and the space agency says it will provide a Webcast and a blog at http://www.nasa.gov/shuttle. The blog will update the countdown beginning at 8:30 p.m. EDT Monday from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

During the STS-128 mission, visitors to NASA’s shuttle Web site can read about the crew’s progress and watch the spacewalks live. And, as Discovery’s flight wraps up, NASA will offer details concerning the spacecraft’s return to Earth on the blog.

Officials said NASA’s Twitter feed (http://www.twitter.com/nasa) will be updated throughout the shuttle launch countdown, mission and landing.

NASA TV streaming video, scheduling and downlink information is available at http://www.nasa.gov/ntv.
