Shakespeare meat pies recalled in Canada

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning people with allergies to egg, milk, sulfites or soy not to eat Shakespeare-brand meat pies.

The CFIA said the affected products contain egg, milk, sulfites or soy which are not declared on the label.

The Shakespeare meat pies are sold frozen in 5-inch and 9-inch sizes and are distributed across Ontario. The pies are manufactured in various flavors, including chicken, turkey, beef, steak and mushroom, steak and kidney, beef and pork, tortiere and TexMex.

The federal agency said consumption of the products could cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in people with allergies to eggs, milk, sulfites or soy. The manufacturer, Shakespeare Pies of Shakespeare, Ontario, is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace, officials said.
