Some Stop & Shop molasses cookies recalled

September 1, 2009

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of some Stop & Shop-brand Home Town Bakery old fashioned molasses cookies.

The FDA said Petri Baking Products Inc. of Silver Creek, N.Y., initiated the voluntary recall because the cookies contain peanut butter and milk that are not listed on the ingredients label. People allergic to peanuts or milk might suffer serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the product.

The federal agency said the recall affects 167 cases (2,000 packages) of Stop & Shop Home Town Bakery old fashioned molasses cookies with a Sell By date of FEB.22,2010 A printed on side of package.

The recalled cookies are sold in Stop & Shop stores in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Maine and New Jersey.

Consumers may return the recalled cookies for a refund or contact the company at 800-346-1981.
