South Pars Gas Field Drilling at Phases 9, 10 to Start Soon

According to "Tehran Times", the project manager of development of South Pars Gas Field phases 9 and 10 announced that drilling operations will start on the phases within the next days. Nozar Aryan added that the construction of the offshore platform deck in Khorramshahr will also start soon, but it will take about 16 to 18 months. A contract for drilling gas in the phases 9 and 10 of the South Pars Gas Field is concluded between the Pars Oil and Gas Co

. (POGC) and a foreign oil company -Oriental Oil Kish Company - with each respectively having 58 and 42 percent of the shares. Following the withdrawal of the U.S. oil giant Halliburton from the development contract, the POGC reached an agreement with the Oriental Oil Kish Company to undertake the drilling operations, Pars Oil and Gas Company managing director Akbar Torkan had earlier noted. The official also explained that being the first of its kind, the huge gas project is being developed through finance investment by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), LG Consortium of South Korea, Oil Industries Engineering and Construction Company (OIEC), Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) as well as Pars Oil and Gas Company.
