Premier Organics of Berkeley, Calif., said it is recalling 840 cases of Artisana-brand raw tahini due to possible salmonella contamination.

Tahini is a thick Middle Eastern paste made from ground sesame seeds. Being recalled is Artisana Lot No. 90811 in 16-ounce glass jars. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said the product might be contaminated with salmonella bacteria that can cause serious infections.
