Jul. 20--TOKYO -- Trading house Marubeni Corp. and China's Dongfang Electric Corp. have won a 50 billion yen contract to build a coal-fired power plant for the state-run Electricity of Vietnam, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported Wednesday.
The report said it is the first power plant contract won by a Sino-Japanese alliance for a project outside their countries.
The contract covers the design and construction of two 300,000-kilowatt generators in Hai Phong, as well as the supply of equipment and facilities for the power plant, one of Vietnam's largest coal-fired power plants, the report said.
