MOSCOW. July 23 (Interfax) - Russia's Air Forest Security Service is ready to give technical assistance to European countries in extinguishing current large-scale forest fires, the Natural Resources Ministry said in a release.
The Federal Forestry Agency says Russia has doubled its volume of fire prevention operations since the start of the 2005 fire hazard season and that, as a result, fires have hit an area that is half the area that was under fire in 2004.
