The Independents Are Crucial to U.S. Oil Production, Says the Pioneer Chief Executive in World Energy Magazine
Posted on: Wednesday, 27 July 2005, 09:00 CDT
"Independents will play an important role in providing the supply for continually growing worldwide energy demand," says Pioneer chairman, Scott Sheffield, in the new World Energy magazine. Unlike the majors they are "able to profitably tackle smaller prospects and discoveries."
"The independents continue to discover new fields and extend existing fields to provide the United States with more domestically produced oil and gas," by encouraging "scientists and engineers to take appropriate risks and pursue new ideas," he says. The article can be viewed at www.WorldEnergySource.com.
The independents increased their U.S. production by approximately 3 percent in 2004, while the production of the majors declined by 10 percent. They currently produce about half of the total oil and gas produced in the United States.
Also in this new issue, BP chief executive, Lord Browne, outlines the three steps to a new energy future, U.S. Secretary of Energy, Samuel Bodman, writes about LNG as a global energy solution, and Chevron chief executive, John Gass, argues for gas to liquids processes as a means for higher quality products and cleaner fuels.
World Energy and Energy Houston magazines, plus World Energy Television, are uniquely dedicated to providing an unedited forum for the leadership of the global energy industry. Unlike other publications, articles are written by executives themselves, with no editorial filter.
World Energy is proud to announce the launch of World Energy Monthly Review. This highly anticipated newsletter will feature timely, in-depth analysis by Professor Michael J. Economides, one of the most recognizable names in the energy industry. He and his team of analysts will craft monthly reports on the energy industry in Russia, China, North America and the rest of the globe.
At the WorldEnergySource.com website, every article published in the last six years is indexed and available for viewing. Additionally, World Energy Television's productions, such as exclusive video interviews with top executives at this year's OTC in Houston, bring faces and voices to the top names in the industry.
Also on the website are daily news items, corporate profiles, over 50 stock exchanges, commodity prices and links to major energy companies. It's all translatable into seven languages, and key-worded and indexed. Registration on the website is free.
