Four killed in chemical plant explosion in E. China city
NANJING, July 26 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed and three were injured with five others missing in an explosion that hit a chemical plant in Wuxi, a city of east China's Jiangsu province, Tuesday.
The blast broke out at 9:30 a.m. when the Hudai plant was experimenting with a new ingredient for pesticide without getting a necessary safety evaluation from local departments.
The powerful blast destroyed the whole plant.
Over 100 rescuers, medical staff and local officials have arrived at the site of the explosion.
Rescue work and an investigation are underway.
