Red Apple Market Closes in Tacoma, Wash.

July 27, 2005
Repost This

Jul. 27–One of the last locally owned grocery stores in Tacoma, the 56th Street Red Apple Market on South Tacoma Way, has closed.

Signs on the small grocery store have been taken down. And shopkeepers in nearby stores said they hadn’t heard of any other stores planning to move into the market.

The store closed Saturday, and most of the store’s shelves were empty Tuesday. But remnants of the grocery store remained, including helium balloons, shampoo and candy bars.

Efforts to contact the store’s owner were unsuccessful.
