Iraq to provide Kuwait with natural gas
KUWAIT CITY, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Iraq has expressed commitment to a draft protocol on providing Kuwait with natural gas, Kuwait News Agency (KNA) reported on Sunday.
A statement by Kuwaiti Energy Ministry said that the Kuwait- Iraqi Higher Technical Committee held its 6th meeting earlier this month and discussed the draft protocol, according to which Iraq would export an average of 35 million cubic feet of natural gas on a daily basis to Kuwait for a five-year period.
Kuwaiti Energy Ministry Undersecretary Eassa Al-Own stressed the importance of respecting the project's time schedules, due to Kuwait's plans to expand operation in the electricity and petrochemical fields, said KNA.
The two sides will sign the protocol during the committee's upcoming meeting.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti side welcomed more Iraqi oil workers to receive training within Kuwaiti oil installations, and was ready to provide Iraq with spare parts necessary for its oil facilities.
