Association For Computing Machinery Evaluates SciVee Video Platform
Communications of the ACM to Assess Inclusion of PubCasts and Videos
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 19, 2010
SciVee, the leading video platform solutions provider to the scientific, technical and medical market, announced today that the Association for Computing Machinery has agreed to assess the SciVee video platform for Communications of the ACM, its flagship publication and the most highly cited journal in the field of computer science. The six-month trial is to determine how SciVee offerings can supplement and enhance ACM journals to increase article views, broaden reader interest and promote authors. ACM publishes more than 50 peer-reviewed journals and niche magazines circulated in print and online to more than 1.5 million computing professionals from over 190 countries around the world.
“Online publishing presents the opportunity to incorporate video and other rich media in our journals,” said Scott Delman, Director of Group Publishing at ACM. “Communication of many of the advancements in computer science can be enhanced through video presentation and author commentary in video form. We are excited to work with SciVee in exploring innovative and leading edge approaches to scientific communication.”
This trial primarily focuses on the SciVee PubCast, which is a synchronized video abstract that enables a reader to see and hear the author discuss highlighted sections of a journal article in a full multimedia presentation online. It offers a more dynamic way to absorb and retain scientific knowledge. A PubCast promotes greater understanding of an author’s work and increases its impact through broad distribution on the Internet.
“Inclusion of video in scientific publishing is growing rapidly. SciVee is pleased to be working closely with ACM, the leading publisher to computing professionals in bringing rich media to it readers,” said Marc Friedmann, CEO of SciVee.
