Repsol YPF Selects UOP Technology for New CCR Platforming(TM) Unit and Revamp of Aromatics Complex
Posted on: Monday, 1 August 2005, 15:01 CDT
UOP LLC (UOP) and Repsol YPF (RYPF) announced the selection of UOP technology for a new CCR Platforming unit to be installed at the RYPF Complejo Industrial Ensenada (CIE) in Ensenada, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and for the development of a revamp of the existing aromatics complex at the CIE. The new CCR Platforming unit will include a Continuous RVG Chlorsorb(TM) System. The aromatics complex revamp will include upgrading the extraction unit to a Sulfolane(TM) unit, in addition to a number of fractionation upgrades. The CCR Platforming unit will also supply hydrogen to the refinery for the production of clean fuels and supply high octane reformate to the aromatics complex.
The CCR Platforming process is the premier reforming process for the production of reformate for aromatics production with more than 185 units in operation world-wide. The Continuous RVG Chlorsorb System captures chloride from the vent gas and recycles the chloride back into the process, decreasing chloride consumption. The Chlorsorb technology provides a cost-effective alternative to traditional regeneration vent gas caustic scrubbing, by reducing capital, operating, maintenance, and spent caustic disposal costs.
