Nuclear Fuel Loading at Chinese Power Plant Postponed

MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) – The loading of nuclear fuel into the reactor of power unit 1 at the Tianwan nuclear power plant in China has been postponed until September, a source close to the leadership of the Russian Federal Nuclear Energy Agency (Rosatom) told Interfax.
The postponement is due to technological rather than organizational reasons, he said.
Russia is currently building two power units at the Tianwan nuclear power plant with a capacity of 1,000 MWt each. The construction of one of such unit is estimated at over $1 billion. The Russian company ZAO Atomstroyexport is acting as the general contractor in the project.
