Prestigious universities such as American University, Harvard and Vassar College join Stanford, MIT and others in hosting iD Teen Academies.

Campbell, CA (PRWEB) January 26, 2011

iD Tech Camps has expanded the locations of its three Teen Academies: iD Gaming Academy, iD Programming Academy and iD Visual Arts Academy. The Academies are summer teen programs that provide students with immersive, project-based technology classes in the industry of their choice.

The idea is for teens to start building a portfolio of professional projects that they can use when applying for universities and internships. Teens also get a strong sense of their future career interests.

With the expansion of the Academy locations, teens can take their summer technology courses at prestigious universities such as Harvard, American University and Vassar College in addition to Stanford, MIT, Emory, Villanova, UW, Southern Methodist University and Lake Forest College. Having the programs held at university locations also gives teens a chance to scope out schools that they might be interested in eventually attending.

At each Academy, students ages 13-18 choose among several courses while using industry standard software. Students also get the chance to meet industry professionals and tour nearby studios.

iD Gaming Academy game design courses include: 3D Modeling & Animation with Autodesk® Maya®, Programming for Xbox 360®, Level Design”“Unreal® Development Kit and Level Design”“Starcraft® II: Wings of Libertyâ“¢.
