Houston Plastic Surgeon Dr. Henry Mentz to Present Innovative Liposuction and Brazilian Buttocks Lift Techniques to Surgeons From Around the Globe
Founding partner of The Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery in Houston showcases groundbreaking methods to sculpt six-pack abs and shapelier buttocks.
Houston, TX (PRWEB) April 23, 2011
In recognition of his innovative lipocontouring techniques, the prestigious American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) has invited Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Henry Mentz to present his body contouring expertise to plastic surgeons at its 2011 meeting in Boston, Massachusetts. In the popular lipocontouring course, Dr. Mentz focuses on Abdominal Etching® and buttocks augmentation, a topic which he teaches with Miami plastic surgeon Constantino Mendieta, one of the world’s foremost buttocks enhancement experts. The annual ASAPS event, which draws thousands of plastic surgeons from around the globe, showcases both cutting edge and traditional approaches to aesthetic plastic surgery through a wide array of educational courses, technical exhibits, and panels of experts.
Dr. Mentz, who is a founding partner of one of the largest cosmetic plastic surgery practices in Texas, The Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery® in Houston, is considered a world authority in the specialized liposuction technique, Abdominal Etching®. The Houston plastic surgeon authored the first paper on Abdominal Etching® in 1993. In the procedure, fat is removed around the contours of the abdominal muscles to create the athletic appearance of a “six-pack.”
More recently, Dr. Mentz introduced his advanced buttocks augmentation method to plastic surgeons at the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery meeting in 2010. The technique utilizes a special pump to speed the process and volume of fat that can be grafted into the buttocks in a given procedure. In contrast to the more cumbersome and limited syringe method of fat injection, the pump allows surgeons to sculpt a more rounded buttocks appearance, said Dr. Mentz. “The fact that we’re able to plump and round the buttocks so nicely really does give them a more lifted look so that it is often unnecessary for us to remove skin and use lifting techniques.”
Development of the innovative fat grafting method coincides with a surge in recent years in the number of requests for the popular Brazilian butt lift procedure, in which fat grafts or implants are used to improve the size and shapeliness of the buttocks. ASAPS listed buttocks enhancement procedures and products as one of the top ten cosmetic surgery predictions for 2011, a trend inspired by the curvaceous derrieres of celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian.
Dr. Mentz has presented his techniques to advance body contouring’s safety, recovery, and results through numerous presentations and publications for plastic surgeons. In addition to authoring three book chapters on liposuction, he has written papers on large volume liposuction and the use of blood thinners after liposuction to reduce blood clots. The ASAPS and Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation jointly awarded Dr. Mentz and his group, the Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery®, the “Best Journal Article of 2008″ for the surgeons’ article which presented risk assessment for liposuction based upon a review of 3,871 consecutive cases.
