Nobel Laureate Dr. John Byrne to Address an International Conference Focusing on Green Energy Economy for the 21st Century

Nobel Laureate Dr. John Byrne, Director and Distinguished Professor of Energy and Climate Policy at the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy (CEEP), University of Delaware, will deliver a keynote address at the much anticipated 2011 International Green Energy Economy Conference that will take place July 28-29 at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Crystal City, Virginia.

Dr. John Byrne, Director and Distinguished Professor of Energy and Climate Policy at the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy (CEEP), University of Delaware, will deliver a keynote address at the much anticipated 2011 International Green Energy Economy Conference that will take place July 28-29 at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Crystal City, Virginia.

Organized by CEEP at the University of Delaware, the Korea Energy Economics Institute (KEEI), the National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE) and the Council of Energy Research & Education Leaders (CEREL), the conference will examine the promise, prospects and pathways to a green energy economy for the 21st century. An international group of speakers, including Bill Richardson (former New Mexico Governor and Secretary of Energy to Former President Bill Clinton), Dr. Hoesung Lee (Vice Chair, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), Miriam Horn (Director, Smart Grid Initiative, Environmental Defense Fund) and Dr. Kei Koizumi (U.S. White House Office of Science and Technology Policy) will address critical topics that include developing sustainable energy sources, supporting science and engineering for sustainability, venture capital in the green energy economy, advancing energy efficiency, renewable energy, bicycling, and other non-carbon transit and social and environmental justice.

FREE Board members who also will present at the conference include Dr. Hoesung Lee (Vice Chair, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), Dr. Lawrence Agbemabiese (Senior Officer, Energy Branch, United Nations Environment Programme) and Stan Gale (Managing Partner at Gale International).

Members of the Foundation for Renewable Energy and Environment (FREE) will be available at the conference to discuss the nonprofit organization and its mission to promote a better future based on natural resources conservation, renewable energy use, environmental resilience and sustainable livelihoods through an active agenda that includes conferences, films, exhibitions, seminars and publications directed toward improving public understanding of the sustainability challenge and its solutions.
