Green Plus Approved for On-Road, Off-Road and Marine Low Emission Diesel in Texas; State Also Awards Biofriendly Additional Grants

Biofriendly Corporation announced today that its Green Plus(R) diesel fuel enhancer has been approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) as an emission reduction solution for both on-road and off-road use. This means that on-road trucks, off-road construction equipment, school buses, locomotives and marine vessels that use diesel fuel in the 110 counties in Texas designated by the U.S. EPA as non-attainment areas (areas which have consistently surpassed the ozone and other air pollution levels) may use fuel treated with Green Plus to meet the new Texas Low Emission Diesel (TxLED) law that goes into effect October 1.
In addition, Biofriendly announced that it has been awarded two new grants by the State of Texas to pay for testing its Green Plus with Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel and Biodiesel fuel. These grants, which total over three hundred thousand dollars, were awarded after careful review by TCEQ and given to Biofriendly based on past test results and superior potential to reduce pollution.
Green Plus Suitable for S15, S500 and S5000 Diesel
The TxLED law, which goes into effect October 1, 2005, requires Texas diesel producers and importers to supply a diesel fuel formulation that meets the Texas Low Emission Diesel requirements. The approval of Green Plus as an Alternative Formulation means that it may be used with ASTM D975-compliant Grade No. 2-D diesel fuel. This includes diesel with sulfur contents ranging from 15 parts per million up to 5000 parts per million in fuel used for both on-road and off-road applications, such as construction equipment, locomotives and marine. Biofriendly's Green Plus won approval after meeting the TxLED requirements as an Alternative Formulation by passing a series of complex Federal tests. Texas, under its new law requires its diesel emissions in the 110 affected counties to be on par with clean California diesel. As in California, Texas has allowed alternatives to producing a more costly fuel formulation, which requires substantial investment by producers in new refining equipment. Both Texas and California have sought alternative solutions that allow the use of standard EPA-approved diesel along with a product like Green Plus that lowers emissions to levels equivalent to California diesel. In independent testing by an EPA and California Air Resources Board-accepted laboratory, Biofriendly is the first company with a product that meets the new requirements set by Texas in its most recent rule change that became effective in March 2005.
Grants Could Help New Fuels Produce Even Lower Emissions
The two new grants from Texas will allow Biofriendly to test Green Plus with both Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (Diesel with just 15 parts per million of sulfur content) and Biodiesel. The Biodiesel test will be conducted on fuel with 10 percent Biodiesel content. It is expected that Green Plus will reduce the NOx and other emissions of both these fuels.
Texas Could Reduce Smog-Producing NOx by Over 13,000 Tons Per Year
The use of Green Plus as part of TxLED fuel will reduce all of the harmful gaseous and pollutant emissions from current diesel fuel. Most importantly, Green Plus could potentially help Texas reduce smog-causing Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) by over 13,000 tons per year. The notification of approval can be found on the State of Texas web site at: http://www.tnrcc.state.tx.us/oprd/sips/cleandiesel.html#Formulations
Alternative Formulation Simplifies Approval Procedures
As a result of the approval of Green Plus as an Alternative Formulation solution, fuel providers in Texas will not have to submit complicated Alternative Plan documents and wait for approval by the State and the US EPA. Instead, fuel providers will simply have to show that they are using Green Plus to meet the TxLED regulations.
About Biofriendly Corporation and Green Plus
Under development for over 10 years, Green Plus is a product that employs nanotechnology (working at the molecular level) to achieve a breakthrough combination of reduced emissions and improved fuel economy. Green Plus is added in very small quantities to fuel in order to create a more complete, cooler and more linear burn. The product has undergone rigorous testing in the United States and Europe and has over 150 million miles of on-road/on-ocean use. Green Plus is now available commercially worldwide.
Biofriendly Corporation has introduced Green Plus, the world's most effective solution for significantly improving fuel economy and reducing harmful emissions. Green Plus is designed for use in diesel, gasoline and other hydrocarbon-based fuels. This patent-pending product was invented by the same innovators who created Vortoil, the award-winning oil-water separator for offshore oil production.
