A Result of EU’s ASSET Research Project is a Plastic Bridge in Germany

A result of the EU’s ASSET research project is a plastic bridge in Germany. The project Advanced Structural Systems for Tomorrow’s Infrastructure (ASSET) was subsidized with EUR 4 mil from the EU means. The bridge was built in Klipphausen, Germany, using special plastic reinforced with glass fibre. The first plastic bridge in the world was opened in Oxfordshire in the UK on 29 Oct 2002.
