Led by press officer Rosa Hill, the story centred on research showing more than 9,000 endangered species and animal parts were found for sale online within a week. ‘Is pounds 28,000 too high for a giraffe on the net?’ lampooned The Times. Oxford University’s William Dutton pointed out: ‘The net can be used to support wildlife trading but others can use it to challenge it.’
