A radiation hazard has been eliminated in Vladivostok. Powerful radioactive sources were discovered in the port.
Gamma radiation dose exceeded the background radiation level over 100-fold, RIA said. The source of contamination was found in scrap metal. It took almost seven hours to deactivate the port. Some 100 radioactive metal parts were seized and transferred to a special facility dealing with collection and disposal of radioactive waste.
At the moment the radiation level in the port is normal.
