Aug. 24--TOKYO -- The average retail price of regular gasoline in Japan remained at a 12-year high of 129 yen per liter including tax Monday, unchanged from a week earlier, the Oil Information Center said Wednesday.
The price is expected to exceed 130 yen in September as oil refiners plan to raise wholesale prices 2 yen per liter or more in the month due to crude oil price increased this month, an industry source said.
The average prices of premium gasoline and diesel oil remained at their respective week-before levels of 140 yen and 105 yen per liter Monday, the center said.
From June 27, before oil refiners increased wholesale prices 6 yen per liter or more in July and August, the average regular and premium gas prices Monday were up 6 yen per liter.
