KHARTOUM, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Sudanese Minister of Energy and Mining Awadh Ahmed al-Gaz announced Wednesday that his country's oil production will rise to 500,000 barrels per day (bpd) by the end of 2005.

Addressing a press conference on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of Sudan's oil exporting, al-Gaz said the capacity of Sudan's oil refineries will reach to 100,000 bpd, an increase of 30,000 bpd from the current level.

New oil fields of 3 and 7 are expected to start production by the end of this year and the field 15 A will follow soon, the minister said.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese Energy and Mining Ministry is undertaking work in digging oil areas of 2 in southern Darfur, 9 in Gezira and the Rive Nile states, 8 in Sennar and conducting exploration in areas of 11, A, B5, 14 and 15, he added.

Al-Gaz said the investment in the Sudanese oil industry had reached 9 million US dollars, boosting investment in other oil- based industry.

"Sudan is an open country and our conditions for investment are clear and specific," al-Jazz said while answering a question whether his country will accept the investment of the US companies in the oil industry.

"We have no objection against any nationality," he declared, adding that a US company is now working in the oil field in Sudan.
