Dr. Karl Giberson Becomes Editor-in-Chief of Science & Spirit Magazine

Karl Giberson, Ph.D., has been named editor-in-chief of Science & Spirit magazine, the bimonthly subscription and newsstand publication that explores life's complexities from perspectives that integrate both science and spirituality. Science & Spirit is published bimonthly by Heldref Publications, a division of the nonprofit Helen Dwight Reid Educational Foundation. The magazine's editorial offices have moved from Geneva, Illinois, to Quincy, Massachusetts.
Dr. Giberson continues as editor, Research News & Opportunities in Science and Theology, and as a professor at Eastern Nazarene College, where, since 1984, he has taught, physics, philosophy, astronomy, the history of science, and, since 1996, a course he developed, "Issues in Science & Religion." He is the director of the Science and Religion Summer School at the Ettore Majorana Centre in Sicily. He is the author of "Species of Origins: America's Search for a Creation Story" (Rowman & Littlefield, 2002) and "Worlds Apart: The Unholy War Between Religion and Science" (Beacon Hill Press, 1993), and more than thirty of his articles have been published on topics ranging from lasers and cosmology to the science-religion dialogue, the area on which he is currently concentrating. He has a Ph.D. (physics) and an M.A. (physics) from Rice University in Houston, Texas; and a B.S. (physics/math) and B.A. (philosophy) from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Jill Neimark joins Science & Spirit as articles editor. The former features editor at Psychology Today, she is a New York City-based journalist whose work has been published in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Reader's Digest, Psychology Today, Natural Health, Spirituality & Health, and other publications. In the course of writing about science, she has interviewed or profiled many of today's leading scientists. She is also the author of a novel, "Bloodsong" (Random House), and two children's books.
Marc Kaufman assumes the position of associate editor of Science & Spirit. His journalism credits include six years as staff writer at the Framingham, Massachusetts, Middlesex News, and stints as sports editor for the Wellesley, Massachusetts, Townsman and as a columnist for The Homesteader. He has also been a contributing writer/editor for Microsoft and WGBH Interactive; and a contributing writer/reporter for the Quincy, Massachusetts, Patriot-Ledger. He has a B.A. from Vassar, and an M.A. from Northeastern University School of Journalism.
Ami Albernaz joins Science & Spirit as assistant editor. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, she has an M.A. in journalism and Latin American Studies from New York University.
