Forestry fears heard

Forestry Minister Jim Sutton has pledged to give the troubled forestry industry some stability by suggesting start-up support for new wood processing businesses. He met members of the Forest Industry Contractors Association and the New Zealand Maori Council in Rotorua after requests for Government intervention to soften the impact of the forestry downturn on workers. Hundreds have been laid off in recent months.
