Indian state oil company strikes gas in Krishna-Godavari Basin
NEW DELHI, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- India's state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has made a huge gas find in the Krishna-Godavari Basin (K-G Basin), a top company official said Friday.
"We have struck a huge gas find in the K-G Basin. But the Directorate General of Hydrocarbon (DGH) has to still check our assessment of quantity (of reserves)," ONGC Director Offshore Operations N.K. Mitra said in a teleconference from Oslo.
Mitra is part of the official delegation on a three-day visit to Norway with Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar.
According to ONGC officials here, assessment of the new gas find is still in progress.
"We are in the process of drilling the exploratory well and are still to complete assessment of the gas discovery in the K-G Basin block," an officials said.
