Czech Republic: The Waste Management Plan of 2003 counts on 50% civil-waste recycling in five years. This percentage is already common in Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. The environmental movement Duha-Rainbow is afraid the realization of the plan is endangered
. In an analysis of 2005, the movement says among other things that more recycling means more jobs. The recycling of 1mil tonnes of waste yields up to 590 new jobs. According to a representative of the Czech Waste Management Association, the waste business in the Czech Republic was badly set in general. This has been true especially after the VAT was raised also for waste collection without reflecting this in purchasing prices. According to the Ministry of the Environment, 96% of the local population is involved in the waste separation system. However, researches show that only 33% of people sort waste regularly and 42% often.Source: Access Czech Republic Business Bulletin
